Licencing Checks |

Police and Licensed Premises Working Together to Keep Tenterden SafeOfficers from the Ashford Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out evening foot patrols in Tenterden, during which a number of licensed premises were visited to conduct spontaneous licensing checks. These visits help to maintain public safety by ensuring premises are complying with their licensing conditions, while also providing an opportunity to identify and address any concerns at an early stage before they escalate. They also support strong working relationships between the police and license holders, encouraging open communication, information sharing, and joint problem‑solving around crime, disorder, and safeguarding. During the visits, officers highlighted the ‘Ask for Angela’ scheme—an important initiative designed to support anyone who feels unsafe, threatened, or uncomfortable while inside a licensed venue. By discreetly asking staff for “Angela”, individuals can signal that they need help. Trained staff can then provide support, arrange a safe exit, or contact the police where necessary. All licensed premises engaged positively with the checks, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with local venues to help keep Tenterden safe. | ||
